Default Science portion of AS&S

Hi all,
For those of you who have done or are doing AS&S, would it be too much to do another science curriculum (like the Jiggle, Jostle & Jolt) while doing the science in AS&S? In general, with the added science in AS&S, is it a lot more time consuming than other themes? For comparison's sake, I am doing QAW right now...
My kids really want a science with a lot of hands of stuff and the JJ&J fits that for sure, but I also don't want to bite off more than I can chew!
Thanks,
Katie

Otter still did extra science above and beyond S&S, but he is really into science. S&S has plenty of science so I wouldn't feel the need to supplement...however if you want to, you would still (in my opinion) have time to do so.
I don't think S&S takes up any more time than any other WP themes I've done. WP is good about not over scheduling and leaving plenty of time for extras.

What ages are your kids? I can see older kids wanting to do more. However, my 3rd grader is fine with the S&S science as is.

I did S&S with a 2nd and 4th grader. I would not have added in any science, as it would have been too much for my dc. I think it would depend on the ages of your dc, and how many of the activities and bunny trails you do.

I don't think you would need any more. S&S will cover as much oceanography, weather/climate and astronomy as you want.

I am using S & S w/ my 11 yo ds. Since he is a science enthusiast we have added in additional science that he wanted to study. Essentially he is reading all the AW behavior series, encyclopedia readings, and the God's Design text along w/ some additional Usborne books like Marvels of Nature, Animals, etc. and the Biology Real Sci 4 kids books. He reads 3-6 pages a day, does a drawing, notebook entry or project to relate to his readings. If I just had him, I would probably have added in an additional full science program---but with doing different cores for my 6 and 13 yo I couldn't keep up with anything else.

Oh, a resource that he and my 6 yo have found really fun is the Spy science books from Vision Forum. My 6 yo asked for them for Christmas and my 11 yo has enjoyed helping him do the experiments/projects in them bec they are clearly over my 6yo's ability.

Thanks for all the responses.... I am waffling between AS&S and CATW. I think I will post a question in a more general place, as I am needing the insight of others to help me make a decision!
