This has been fun for the kids to discuss our country in a sort of 3rd person way....objectively like the other countries we've been doing. Anyone else enjoying the USA studies?
Interesting pick on having the cultural celebration be Kwanzaa...I would have thought it would have been Independence Day. I'm curious if anyone celebrates Kwanzaa or has friends who celebrate it? We live in a predominantly African American neighborhood, and I don't know anyone who celebrates Kwanzaa...although I do see it mentioned on TV. Wondering if it's celebrated more in other regions of the nation. It was interesting to hear the symbolism behind it.

Its interesting....it used to be a part of the curriculum in schools here - even preschool programs like head start. I don't even hear it mentioned any more. The symbolism is very neat. Am interested to see the replies.
