Hi everyone!
Well, I had decided at first to switch to AS2 instead of SL4 next year, changed my mind, then changed it back! My dd saw the activities in the catalog and can't wait! And, the more I thought about, the more I saw that she is right - a bit of a change may be good :-) And I think WP may be more engaging for my other dd, soon-to-be 1st grader!

So, my question is on the AS2 Add-on set. My dd (8 yo) is working well above grade level (assessed at 6+ grade), and I think she'd enjoy the independent work. How does this "work" for them? Can anyone give me a peek at how their middler does it?

Thanks!

of the add-on for AS2 (and the older version of AS1) is it adds additional topics (for AS2: continues 50 states work, presidents, and African-American studies) and some further reading on select topics. So the level of work is not harder really, just more work.

We are finishing AS1 (old version) this year with a 1st and 5th grader. We will be doing AS2 next year. The level of the reading, etc. is fine for both ages. My 5th grader gets it all and my first grader understands the basics.

Now, the new AS1 and AC1 do use different books, so I would expect the levels to be different.

We used AS1 with an advanced 4th/5th grader and are using AS2 with an advanced 6th grader and are finding it great. Not a ton of work, but very enjoyable.

Get the middler pack if you want -- I've used it sporadically throughout the year. But I really don't find it necessary, and especially not with an 8 yo. Just do more of the additional suggestions with her if you wish.
